Several years ago, I was referred to Barbara Leibowitz by my dermatologist for a substantial hair growth problem on my face. I was extremely self-conscious and wanted the hair gone once and for all. After many years of dealing with tweezing, waxing, shaving, bleaching and then concealing with Dermablend, as well as all the skin damage I had done with these methods, I decided to go with the only permanent method of hair removal: electrolysis. You can only imagine how embarrassing it was to have ugly, black hairs on my chin. I used to pluck tens of coarse, ugly hairs from my chin and upper lip every day, and lived in fear of being caught without my tweezers. When I began treatment with Barbara, I would see her on a weekly basis. Now, one year later, all of the original hair growth is permanently gone and I see her approximately every other month to eliminate any new growth due to my Polycystic Ovarian (PCOS) condition. When I first met Barbara nine years ago, it was obvious that she was a master at the oldest technique. Later, when I moved to Boston for college, I was forced to use another method because nobody there practiced galvanic. The other method didn't work -- everything grew back, and furthermore, it hurt! Barbara, however, is effective, very gentle, and has a great aesthetic. I'm not sure if she's more my friend, therapist, or beauty enhancer. I think that says a lot about her. It means if she's that considerate and detailed to her clients, it's a personality trait that runs through and through. She's done such a good job that, to my complete amazement, I hardly see her anymore. I used to go once a week for an hour, and now I go about twice a year for an hour each. Unbelievable.
